In an emotional ceremony held at the Inca Palace of Kusicancha, the decentralized Culture Directorate of Cusco awarded the winners of the essay contest held as part of the “heritage routes” program, organized with the aim of promoting the care and protection of cultural heritage.
The essay competition was held after the participants of the program “heritage routes” made guided visits to museums, colonial houses of patrimonial value, Temple of the company of Jesus, Calle Mantas and other places of the historical center of Cusco.
The winner of the first place of this Essay Contest is Luciana Navarro Odicio, a student at the Santa Rosa ISP School, who earned a trophy and a free trip to Machupicchu with all her salon companions.
The second place was for Fabiola Zela Furo, a student at the Santa Rosa School in Lima, who received a beautiful trophy, before the Ovation of her classmates. In third place was Nicole Huamán Soto of Las Mercedes School.
Also, honorable mentions were given to students of the educational institutions Humberto Vidal Unda, San Juan de Dios, Bernabé Cobo, Ciencias, El Rosario, Fortunato L. Herrera, Señor de los Milagros and San Francisco de Asís.
“I congratulate each of you dear students, your teachers and all who have participated in this program and we are sure that from now on, we will have your support to care for, Protect and preserve the valuable cultural heritage that we have inherited from our ancestors,” said Enrique Aguilar, Coordinator of the functional area of heritage defense, at the time of the awards.
