Machu Picchu: train service suspended in Cusco-Poroy road

The company Peru Rail reported that between January 2 and April 30, 2017, its services to Machu Picchu with departures and arrivals from the station of Poroy will depart and return to Ollantaytambo station in Cusco.

This was due to the fact that the railroad concessionaire notified the restriction of train passage from Cusco during the rainy season in the region due to security issues, according to the company.

During the suspension period, the Belmond Hiram Bingham train will operate under a bimodal service, ie bus and train. The service will depart by bus from the station of Poroy to the Belmond Hotel Rio Sagrado, for the later transhipment to the train to the citadel of Machu Picchu.

According to the railway company, the transfer from the center of Cusco to the station of Poroy is not included in the ticket price. The return of the passengers to Cusco from the Belmond Hotel Rio Sagrado will be carried out in private buses and the passengers of this service will be left in their respective accommodations in Cusco.
